Needles for all types of ultrasound-guided biopsies

As NeoNavia pulse biopsy system offers the needle types most used today, as well as an innovative third needle type specially intended for technically difficult lesions, NeoNavia has the potential to replace all other ultrasound-guided breast biopsies in a clinic. All three needle types are powered by our patented pulse technology.

FlexiPulse - an open front-loaded needle

With the open tip design and controlled needle insertion, FlexiPulse needle is particularly well suited for ensuring safe and precise sampling of technically challenging lesions such as in axillary lymph nodes and dense breast tissue. It is developed to facilitate maximum tissue yield with the least possible tissue damage.2,3 In pre-clinical studies the FlexiPulse needle has provided larger samples than today's core needles.3

Design and features:

  • The outer cannula is shaped like an open hollow front-loaded tube with a slightly ground inside edge.
  • The inner solid part has a sharp tip.
  • The needle diameter is 14G.
  • The sampling chamber is 30 mm.
  • All needle functions are controlled by buttons that are activated on the handpiece.

CorePulse - a core needle with micro-pulses

Core Pulse is NeoNavia’s version of a core needle with pulses and it is intended for breast biopsy under ultrasound guided visualisation. CorePulse belongs to the core-needle category (read more about CNB here) but differs on some important points such as needle insertion, placement in a suspected lesion and in the actual sampling situation.

Design and features:

  • The inner cannula has a side opening like other core needles.
  • The outer cannula is spring loaded.
  • The needle diameter is 14G.
  • The sampling space is 20 mm.
  • The micro-pulses allow precise placement in the tumor.
  • The sampling is automated and does not require manual spring loading.
  • All needle functions are controlled by buttons that are activated on the handset.

VacuPulse - a vacuum assisted pulse biopsy needle

VacuPulse is NeoNavia's version of a vacuum assisted biopsy needle, VAB, intended for breast biopsy under ultrasound guided visualisation. VacuPulse is operated with pulse technology, which allows a controlled stepwise needle insertion through the tissue and a precise placement in the suspected lesion.

Design and features:

  • The outer cannula has a side opening.
  • The inner cannula acts as a cutter.
  • The needle diameter is 10 G.
  • The sampling space is 20 mm.
  • Multiple samples can be collected in one incision.
  • The samples are collected in a sample container on the underside of the handset.
  • All needle functions are controlled by buttons that are activated on the handset.
